That Boy's a Rollin' Fool

Mitchell rolled over for the first time today. That seemed to come up really quickly, but I'm noticing that a lot with him. I have a new appreciation for how quick this all really goes. When I was in the hospital, I wanted to hold him the whole time because I was very aware that this tiny newborn phase wouldn't last very long. He didn't sleep in his little bassinet, he slept with me.

I remembered when I was pregnant with Rheanna (and didn't know she was a girl), Tim and I attended a taping of the BYU choirs singing various songs. One of the songs sung by the womens' choir started out with "Where are you going, my little one, little one?" and said "turn around" over and over as they described their little girl growing up before their eyes. I was able to find it sung by Harry Belafonte to put on my playlist. Being pregnant and emotional, I naturally got teary-eyed and saw my baby growing before my eyes and thought "she's all grown up, and it was so fast (sniff) I hardly got to know her!! (SOB)" Well, fortunately it wasn't THAT fast, but I just turned around and my little one handed me a peanut butter cookie she made by herself. . . (sniff).

I love the new look of the blog! The two sidebars definitely makes organization easier.

Boyd just asked me when was the last time we saw you guys? Was it Christmas of '05? You need to come visit us in Texas!

Oh, and a big congrats to Mitchell for the roll over. Such a big "step."

That song gets me every time. And I would definitely agree that the newborn-appreciation factor goes up with each kid. Can't imagine how it feels with the 5th though.

Oh, and sorry to be so chatty, but was the taping you were talking about called Songs of Praise and Remembrance? Ed's sister played in the orchestra for that and gave us a CD - it's one of my favorites.

ok, mitchell is sooo beautiful. If we have a weird looking kid our families just can't be friends. sorry... and I guess its good to be reminded to enjoy these moments cause pregnancy (esp. when you are 3 days over due) does not seem to go by fast!

To answer MaryAnn's question--yes, that was the name of the concert. We were up in the nosebleed seats in the audience. They had to do two "takes" of that song which means they sang it and tortured me twice.

I do wonder sometimes if when my youngest leaves the home if I think to myself "Where did motherhood go?" I figure that will feel better then counting down the years like my dad used to. I have to hand it to him though. He raised seven and was a single parent. Sometimes I'm sad time flies, but allot of times I'm really really grateful time flies.

I don't know if most kids are as mature as Rheanna... but she does seem extra grown up lately. She is, seriously, such a HUGE help to have around. PS The Shamrocks are too cute, makes me proud to be a hot-headed Irish woman.

I'm digging your new layout. You go, girl! I sort of figured of all the siblings you'd go the craziest with the technical side of blogging.

Rheanna has grown. (Sniff.) And Mitchell is absolutely adorable! He looks like Keller to me.

Hi Tim and Irene,
Thought I would de-lurk and say hello. Tim will remember me as "drooly Julie", (an adorable nick name his dad gave me) and as Kelly's best friend.
I have enjoyed reading about your kids and I, too, think those newborn days are waay to short. My littlest (and probably last, sniff) is 2 1/2 and getting too big to cuddle. Knowing the Ryans when they were growing up, it's fun to pick out the "Ryan" in the next generation of kids. And you live in Mimi and Ardy's house! They taught me how to crochet. I'll be around, checking in on your blog.
