Perhaps we're irascible, but we're not irrationally irascible, and that makes all the difference. Because when you have eight kids and live right next to your in-laws, you really have to keep your cool. So far, no complaints (from the neighbors).

Why "Irascible"
Tim pointed out to me that we're not really irascible, we're actually quite laid back. I said that I know that, but I just like the sound of the word "irascible" and I'm not interested in changing the title just to accomodate the truth. Besides, how can we be the "Fighting Irish" if we're not irascible? And don't you dare start suggesting that I change that part too because that would take away my whole title and would mean that I would have to expend a lot of time and energy to make another one. So unless you feel no guilt in heaping one more burden onto my already overloaded shoulders, you all should probably just keep your comments and suggestions to yourself. I mean it! I don't want to see a single comment for this post!

Loves,
Ed :)
How dare you, Ed. How DARE you!
Okay, um this might be an ignorant question, but are you guys even Irish? I know your kids all have Celtic names.....
The Law family slightly is, but it's actually through Tim's dad's side. We also have some strong German mix through Tim's mom's side. Now there's a combination for you.
With due voice of authority, there are some issues I must lay to rest:
#1. Irascible is not only accurate, it's appropriate. It's the only way to survive the Fresno heat, the opinionated neighbors, and the wild children.
#2. No one here was irascible until Irene moved in. We didn't know how. We're good at it now.
#3. Irene didn't know how to be truly irascible until she had Meriel. This new tutelage has elevated irascible to a new level from which we all can learn.
#4. We are half Irish, half German, 1/4 Scots, 1/8 American Indian, 2/3 Proper Brit, and, according to Taylor, 1/10 Puerto Rican. There it is. Beat that.
Judy can only be considered the voice of authority when she's being 100% honest. I have it on better authority (Timothy) that the Ryan family was pretty darn good at being irascible before I got here. The rest is accurate.
